Want to play an archer with high damage but slow shooting speed, or a mage with higher shooting speed and lower damage? Nothing is certain in Son of a Witch, you may want to play a melee character but there is a high possibility you will only find weapons suited to other classes. Each class has its own unique skill set with its own advantages and disadvantages to suit varying playstyles. Fear not, all of these challenges are clearly identified on the character select screen. You’ll have to unlock the additional classes by completing various challenges in regular mode. It’s quite “fortunate” for you that only the melee warrior is unlocked at the start. Son of a Witch lets you choose from a total of seven different classes to play. Full disclaimer: even having spent 15+ hours on this game, I’m yet to unlock the barbarian challenges or hard mode. I don’t suck, it’s just hard ok?! Knights, Mages, and Archers, Oh My! Fancy yourself a pro when it comes to roguelikes? Good, because you’ll have to prove your worth in the challenging regular mode before you can even think about touching hard mode or the barbarian challenges.
These alone would be enough but it also offers additional barbarian challenges and a player vs player arena. Son of a Witch brings regular, casual/party, and hard modes to the table. While your player inventory might be limited, the amount of playable modes is quite the opposite. It’s easy to pick up and attempt a few runs and really hard to put down since each run has drastically different items and weapons.
